| | Rating:  (as rated by 2 recent visitors) | This beautiful, superior quality farmhouse is a fine example of Gozitan architecture and has been tastefully converted into a relaxing holiday home. In an elevated position, it has breathtaking views over lovely countryside to the sea. It is located in the traditional village of Qala which has restaurants, a supermarket and other amenities. It is only two kilometres from Mgarr harbour and eight kilometres to the charming island capital of Victoria.
InteriorThis charming, spacious, two storey property has retained its original Gozitan charm with a mixture of natural lime stone, vaulted, beamed ceilings and rich woodwork. It has a comfortable open plan living room with a fireplace and a ceiling fan. A picturesque, stone archway leads to the light and spacious dining room which has a large wooden dining table, a ceiling fan and several patio doors leading to the garden and terrace. There is an adjacent well equipped kitchen. Ta Qala has four bedrooms, three of which have air conditioning and all with electric heaters. On the ground floor there is one with twin beds which has access to a full shower room. An internal stone staircase leads to the first floor where the further three bedrooms are located. The master bedroom has an antique double bed, an en-suite shower room and patio doors to a terrace which has glorious views over the valley to the sea. There are two bedrooms with twin beds which share a family bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. The farmhouse can accommodate up to eight people plus a further two children on foldaway beds.
ExteriorLarge patio doors lead out to the south facing sunbathing terrace which surrounds the attractive 8.5 x 3.6 metre swimming pool. At the other side of the house and providing welcome cool shade is the al fresco dining terrace with a barbecue, table and chairs. Both terraces have wonderful views. This property is unsuitable for very small children due to a low perimeter wall
AmenitiesTa Qala Farmhouse is located on the outskirts of the small village of Qala, only two kilometres from Mgarr, where a regular ferry service operates to the mainland of Malta. Qala itself has a couple of grocery stores, a butchers, pharmacy, computer shop, restaurants and a bar all within a fifteen minutes walk. The island’s capital, Victoria, is only eight kilometres away.
