Puerto del Carmen Puerto del Carmen is the main tourist resort on the island and a town of extremes - with the quaint old harbour area with many seafront restaurants on one hand and the purpose-built holiday area with its numerous restaurants, shops, bright lights and superb night-life on the other. You can be close to the bright lights but away from the bustle. Puerto del Carmen boasts over 3km of golden sand so those wanting a beach holiday will not be disappointed.
Los Mojones is a very popular area for people wanting luxurious villa accommodation within easy walking distance of the restaurants and bars in the old town and harbour area which has retained much of its charm and is a fabulous place to enjoy a drink or meal and watch the local fishermen bring in their daily catch. The harbour is the starting point for several excursions including a glass bottom boat and trips from Lanzarote over to the neighbouring islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura. The Los Pocillios and Matagorda areas of Puerto del Carmen are more level and both have a beautiful golden sandy beach. There is also a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants in these areas and are ideal for guests wanting a more low key holiday where a car isn’t essential. Just outside Los Pocillios is the Rancho Texas theme park where younger holiday makers can enjoy the daily parrot, alligator and eagle shows. Also on the outskirts of the resort is a world class go-karting track. The beaches in Puerto del Carmen all have golden sand and slope gently into the sea, making them perfect for bathing. Playa Chica in the old town is the smallest beach and has pretty, volcanic coves. This beach is very popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. Playa Blanca beach and Los Pocillios are the largest beaches and again have golden sand and are safe for families. The centre of Puerto del Carmen is easily accessible, either by walking along the pretty seafront promenade or by catching the local bus or by taxi for only a few Euros. Guime Guime is located in the hills overlooking Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife and offers magnificent panoramic views of Lanzarote's coastline. It is only a seven minute drive to Puerto del Carmen's miles of golden beaches and varied excellent amenities. There is a small supermarket located in the village and one of the islands largest hypermarkets is nearby. It is the perfect setting for a peaceful holiday and its central location make it perfect for exploring the rest of the island. It is Guime's central location and its elevated position which make it a popular destination for villa holidays.
The wine growing region of La Geria is only a few minutes’ drive away and there are several small bodegas where guests can sample the local produce. The method of growing wine used is unique to Lanzarote. Each vine is individually grown in a small pit surrounded by a low wall and filled with volcanic gravel known locally as ‘picon’. These pits are called ‘zocos’ and are designed to offer protection for the hot breeze while retaining as much moisture as possible in the porous volcanic gravel. It is said that this method of vine growing produces a unique tasting grape. The traditional Canarian town of San Bartolome is only five minutes from Guime and offers a handful of restaurants and bars. San Bartolome is also home to the Casa Museo to Campensino which is a museum to local farmers and has several displays showing local farming methods and produce. There is also a traditional Canarian restaurant which specialises in delicacies of the island. Tias Tias is a small Canarian town with a lively Spanish feel. Although mainly residential, there are several villas located within Tias which are ideal for people wanting a holiday with a more local atmosphere, but wishing to be within easy walking distance of a selection of bars and restaurants. Along the newly renovated high street are several excellent restaurants, with something to meet everyone’s taste and budget. There is also a large supermarket and several shops in the town centre. The beautiful miles of beaches in Puerto del Carmen are only a ten minute drive from Tias and the town is a good central base from which it is easy to explore the rest of the island. Lanzarote's capital city, Arrecife, is fifteen minutes away by car and is well worth a visit. The city is small by European standards, but has a pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. The ancient capital of Teguise can be reached in about fifteen minutes and is the location of the Sunday street market when the normally sleepy town turns into a bustling market. Conil The village of Conil is situated on a hillside approximately six kilometres from the main resort of Puerto del Carmen and the wonderful golden beaches. It is two kilometres from the large, bustling village of Tias, with its restaurants and shops. Conil has an excellent village supermarket and a friendly tapas bar, one of the best restaurants on the island is located on the outskirts of the village. The wine growing region of La Geria is a short drive from Conil and there are several Bodegas where local produce can be sampled. Only a five minute drive from the village is the exclusive, picturesque, international marina of Puerto Calero from where there are several excellent marine excursions. Playa Honda Playa Honda is a typically Spanish residential area just outside the resort of Puerto Del Carmen. The golden sand beach stretches for approximately 2kilometres, starting from Puerto Del Carmen and on towards the capital of Arrecife. The beach is relatively unspoilt as it is little known by tourists and so expansive that it is never crowded. A wide promenade lines the beach and there are several local restaurants and bars along the front where you can try the local tapas. Nearby is the Deiland shopping centre with a large supermarket, bowling alley, various shops and a restaurants. We have 1 villas in Playa Honda. | |
