Santa Eularia and Area

Santa Eularia and Area Villas
Santa Eulalia lies on the east coast of Ibiza , a smart, cosmopolitan resort loved by couples and families alike. A splendid seafront promenade spans the length of a wide sandy beach adorned with palm trees. Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre. Art Galleries, the beautiful and exclusive Yacht Marina, some of the island's best restaurants, some very exclusive shopping, and a thriving all-year community, ensure that life in Santa Eulalia is led at a rather slower and more relaxing pace. There are some excellent bars here too, but the nightlife is far more relaxed than Ibiza Town or San Antonio. There are two main streets in Santa Eulalia, the main street being Calle San Jaime. This street is the daytime meeting place for the coffee and conversation cliques who meet at the cafes to watch the world go by. Backing on to San Jaime is Calle San Vicente, famous as the Street of Restaurants. In the old part of the town is the Town Hall and the Plaza España, with its fountains&palm trees and it is from here that the little train starts its scenic tour of the beautiful surrounding countryside. A walk along the splendid seafront promenade which spans the length of the wide, curved beach, adorned with palm trees will bring you to Mariners beach where the river enters the sea. From here there is a peaceful walk up to the Roman Bridge. Another footbridge spanning the river gives onto a pretty paved walkway leading to the beach of Calo de S’Alga at Siesta with it small village atmosphere. The waterfront tourist resort of Es Cana, to the north of Santa Eulalia, is host to a weekly Hippie Market. Heading south past the wonderful colourful tourist resort of Cala Llonga there is another less touristy Hippie market in close by Las Dalias which takes place every Saturday. On the way back to Ibiza Town, close to Can Fornet, is Ibiza’s only golf course.

Santa Gertrudis

Santa Gertrudis is a peaceful retreat from the bustling resorts on the island of Ibiza. Centrally located it offers the perfect base from which to explore this fabulous island. This charming village lies 15 kilometres north of Ibiza town towards the port of San Miguel and has become a meeting point for both locals and foreigners that have chosen Ibiza as their home. This small town is also home to many different kinds of artists. There is an art gallery, a leather shop and a shop which sells hand made gold and silver jewellery. Several bars line the main road which winds its way through town. Nobody should drive by though without trying out the cured ham and cheese at Bar Costa. From the outside it is like any other typical Spanish bar, but once you walk past the legs of ham dangling from the ceiling, the walls are covered in the paintings of local artists. The paintings stem from the hippy years on Ibiza when penniless artists could only pay for their food in kind. Santa Gertrudis is conveniently located in the heart of Ibiza, making it easy and fast to access most parts of the island. To the west of Santa Gertrudis is the busy holiday resort of San Antonio which has the famous Café del Mar bar from where you can sit and watch the wonderful sunsets. A short drive to the north towards San Miguel takes you to the caves of Can Marca , drive east and you reach the beautiful beaches of Cala Llonga or head to Sant Carlos where you will find a beautiful SPA area and restaurant offering a choice of massages and treatment, so you can spoil yourself for the day. Renowned in years gone by for its community of artists, it first became associated with hippies as far back as the 1960s and this tradition has carried on today with the Saturday “Hippy” market just south of the village at the Las Dalias restaurant. San Carlos has grown in recent years and continues to do so but even so, if you blink while driving through you can easily miss it.
