Qala Qala with its rugged, rocky coastline and several sheltered inlets is on the eastern side of Gozo Island. It is only two kilometres from Mgarr, where a regular ferry service operates to the mainland of Malta and eight kilometres from the only city, Victoria which is located in the centre of the island and runs a bus service to and from Qala. Qala is surrounded by terraced fields, dotted with sun-baked dwellings which give the area a Moorish feeling. The fabulous walking and trekking trails along the coast offer stunning views of the neighbouring islands of Malta and Comino. A feature of Qalas’s coastline are the salt pans some of which are still being worked today and several natural caves, the prettiest of which is Ghar Minka and is accessible only by boat.
Qala Qala is the closest point to the Maltese archipelago and breathtaking views can be enjoyed across to both Malta and Comino from the Qala Belvedere and from the small courtyard in fornt of the church known as II-Madonna-tal-Blat (St. Mary of the Rocks). This tiny village has grocery stores, butchery, pharmacy, computer shop, restaurants and a bar. We have 1 villas in Qala. | | |
