Mallorca  Mallorca, also known as Majorca, is the largest of the Spanish Balearic Islands basking peacefully in the Mediterranean Sea and boasting 340 miles of beaches and coves. The north coast comprises of two vast sandy bays, Pollensa and Alcudia, divided by the rocky Aucanada Peninsula. Pine and olive trees line the narrow winding roads that link picturesque, enchanting villages. To the northeast the mountains give way to flatter land with lush green pastures and miles of sandy white beaches. The east coast is known as the Mallorca Riviera and is a string of tiny, unspoilt bays. Porto Cristo, Cala Millor and Porto Colom are some of the best known villages. The region is also famous for the Caves of Drac with their immense caverns and subterranean lakes. Palma is the cosmopolitan, sophisticated capital of Mallorca situated on the Southwest coast. It is dominated by a magnificent Gothic cathedral that overlooks the bustling harbour with its sleek yachts, long promenade and designer shopping. The Bay of Palma leads round to the highly developed resorts of Magalluf and Palma Nova on the west coast. Life on this coastline is dedicated to fun and sun-worshipping with many amusement parks for holidaymakers to enjoy such as Marineland and Aquapark.The north coast of the island offers a chance to find total solitude amidst spectacular scenery.
