Costa Teguise and Area

Costa Teguise and Area Villas
Costa Teguise is Lanzarote's second largest resort and is blessed by being in close proximity to a wealth of beautiful and interesting sights, locations and fabulous beaches. A ten minute drive from the resort takes you past the hillside hamlet of Oasis de Nazaret to the magnificent old capital of the island Teguise which is the venue for a vast, Sunday Market. This lovely, tranquil town contains some excellent restaurants, speciality shops and is well worth a visit. Oasis de Nazaret is a pretty hamlet of luxury villas, most of which offer superb views. A fifteen minute drive from here takes you to the lovely old village of Haria, set in the "valley of the 1000 palms" a lush green expanse, set in a usually barren landscape.

The route north of Costa Teguise takes you to the village of Orzola, from where there is a ferry to the tiny, un-spilt, neighbouring island of Graciosa. It can be viewed from Lanzarote from the fabulous, 479 metre high, Cesar Manrique designed, look-out point Mirador del Rio. On the way you will pass the delightful fishing villages of Arrieta and Punta de Mujeres, charming sea front fish restaurants and the Arrieta beach which has a large children's' play area. North of these are several breathtakingly beautiful, white sand, cove beaches with aquamarine waters. Two of the islands, unique and major visitor attractions are here, both created by a pre-historic eruption.

Los Jameos del Agua which contains a concert cave seating 100 people, a lake, superb garden and a restaurant. Cueva de los Verdes is a fascinating walk through series of lava caves and passages for 2 kilometres. Back down, closer to the resort are the famous Cactus Gardens, the magnificent, Cesar Manrique Fundacion and the agricultural museum. The area of Costa Teguise is culturally rich but at a slow pace and is a perfect holiday base for the active, curious and those wanting nothing but pure, blissful relaxation in the sun.

Teguise

Teguise is a typical Canarian village and is one of the most important cultural and tourist centres on the island. This quaint and picturesque village is located in the centre of Lanzarote just ten kilometres from the coast. Its streets are lined with palaces, convents and squares which preserve the unmistakable flavour of the passage of the centuries and narrate a thousand and one stories.
In the 1980´s Teguise was declared a combined architecturally historic-artistic centre as one of the oldest and most beautiful villages in the Canaries and is considered by both locals and visitors as a living museum. Examples of the local architecture can be seen in the beautifully restored palaces and stately homes such as the Spínola Palace. Among the religious buildings are Nuestra. Senora de Guadalupe church and the convents of St. Domingo and San Francisco. Just on the outskirts of Teguise lies the old castle of Santa Barbara, originally the old capital’s look out post, sitting majestically on top of Guanapay volcano. Amongst the winding cobbled streets are many craft and speciality shops and every Sunday morning, the entire village turns into a grand open air market with colourful stalls brimming with local handcrafts and goods, all animated by groups of folk dancers and singers in native costume.
The surrounding countryside is one of the main agricultural areas on the island and you can still see the villagers with their donkeys working the fields.
There are a good selection of local restaurants and bars within the village and within a fifteen minute drive is the coastal holiday resort of Costa Teguise. Costa Teguise has five golden, sandy beaches and is home to the island’s only water park and golf course. We have 1 villas in Teguise.

Oasis de Nazaret

This is a charming, hillside village within a couple of minutes' drive from the ancient and very beautiful former capital of Lanzarote, Teguise, with its fabulous architecture, many excellent restaurants and vast Sunday market. Centrally-situated and perfectly placed for exploring the island, Oasis de Nazaret itself offers a supermarket and three restaurants including the superb Lago Mar restaurant which also houses art exhibitions and live Jazz. This is located in a unique, spectacular property built into the cliffside and used to belong to Omar Shariff. The hillside location of Nazaret means that most of the villas have spectacular views towards the capital city of Arrecife and the resort of Costa Teguise. Just a ten minute drive from Nazaret is the quaint fishing village of Caleta de Famara which boasts the longest natural beach in Lanzarote, local fish restaurants and is a popular location for surfers and kite surfing.
