Alcudia Alcudia lies in a large bay on the northeast coast of Mallorca, 60 kilometres from Palma, the capital. The area encompasses the traditional, walled town of Alcudia which lies 2 kilometres inland, and is known as the old town. On the coast you have the marina and port at Port d'Alcudia which leads on to the largest beach on the island, 'Bahia de Alcudia'. The old Roman town of Alcudia lies in the centre of the peninsula and is surrounded by old fortress walls with the pedestrian area in its middle with two magnificent gateways at each end, connected by the old street of Cami de Ronda. This is a lovely area to take a stroll and explore the various, small artisan shops of the town. On Tuesdays and Sundays there is a market with local produces and clothes. To the south is the actual port and holiday resort of Alcudia. With a scenic backdrop of the mountains and the pine-clad hillsides, Alcudia is an attractive resort, with the main focus being the beach. The long white sands of Alcudia Bay are approximately 17km long. The beach is the longest and one of the most beautiful beaches on Mallorca, passing through Playa de Muro and onto the resort of C’an Picafort. Gently sloping into the crystal-clear sea, the shallow waters provide a wonderfully safe place for children to play in. There are many water-sports on offer for the more adventurous including scuba-diving and banana rides. Although lively, the atmosphere in Alcudia is not rowdy and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes with some of the best places to eat located down at the port besides the bustling marina. Boat trips are available from here and other activities include a water park, go-karting and horse back riding. The resort of Alcanada, located a few kilometers east, has an 18-hole golf course right by the sea with a backdrop of mountains. Transfer time from Palma airport is approximately 90 minutes.
